As part of its ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence, J-TEQ EMS Solutions Ltd. has partnered with Technical Services International Consultants Ltd. (TSI) to deliver a specialised Forensic Engineering training programme at its advanced manufacturing facility in Livingston.
The programme has been developed and delivered by TSI’s Technical Director, Mike Cummings, and provides in-depth technical coverage of key electronic manufacturing disciplines, including Surface Mount Technology (SMT), Pin Through Hole (PTH) assembly, advanced soldering techniques, and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) technologies.
Designed for engineers and technical specialists, the training examines how materials selection, equipment capability, process controls, and product design decisions influence manufacturability, reliability, and overall product quality. The course applies forensic engineering principles—structured, evidence-based methodologies used to investigate process deviations, component failures, and manufacturing anomalies within complex production environments.
Commenting on the initiative, J-TEQ’s General Manager stated:
“Knowledge sharing is fundamental to the success of J-TEQ, our supply base, and our customers. This training reflects the added value we aim to deliver and reinforces our commitment to collaborative partnerships. We sincerely thank Mike Cummings for his support and for bringing his extensive expertise to our organisation.”
The initial phase of the programme was delivered to personnel within J-TEQ’s SMT, Production, and Test departments during the first half of 2025. In the second half of 2025, the programme was extended to selected J-TEQ customers, enabling client engineering teams to participate in sessions hosted at the Livingston facility.
This initiative has strengthened J-TEQ’s internal technical capability while further reinforcing its position as a value-added manufacturing partner with a strong focus on engineering excellence, effective root cause analysis, and continuous process optimisation.
Following the success of the programme, J-TEQ will be running the Forensic Engineering training again in 2026 for customers and key suppliers. The programme will be delivered quarterly, comprising two half-day sessions per quarter. This offering represents a further value-added service provided by J-TEQ EMS Solutions Ltd., supporting knowledge transfer, capability development, and long-term partnership value across the supply chain.
